Day 12 Learning at Home with The Reading Realm: The Dragon’s Eyes

‘The Dragon’s eyes are wide and wise
and they are staring straight at me…’

from The Dragon’s Eyes by Julie Douglas

We enjoyed sharing some of Julie Douglas’s poems with you today, which are included in The Reading Realm iPad app. We also had a go at writing our own poem together based on Julie’s poem ‘The Dragon’s Eyes’ from her upcoming book Painting Poems, which is illustrated by Jools Wilson.

We then explored how we could create our own dragon eyes, using a range of materials! Here are some examples if you want to create your own, including my effort – I used a large stone from the garden and felt tip pens, but you could use clay or paint your dragon eye onto paper! You can follow Ceridwen Eccles on Twitter (@TeacherGlitter) for more inspiring dragon eye art! You can upload your dragon poems and artwork to The Reading Realm Facebook Group or email them to ian@thereadingrealm.co.uk
